Freelance design pricing
Putting a freelance design pricing has never been simple. How do you quantify creativity, intuition, and expertise? To shed light on this question, Folyo, a freelance design job board, surveyed 209 experienced remote graphic designers about their rates across various services — offering a realistic view of what clients can expect to pay.
The Price of a Logo
The largest group of designers (30%) reported charging between $500 and $1,000 for a logo, while Folyo estimates a “fair” rate at around $1,200.Although 24% of respondents charge below $500, the study notes that lower prices often reflect less experience or limited quality — a reminder that design is both craft and strategy, not a commodity.
The Value of a Homepage
When it comes to website design, 31% of designers charge between $1,000 and $2,500 for a homepage alone, with higher-end projects reaching $5,000 for a full, polished layout (excluding coding). The study suggests that $1,900 represents a fair middle ground for solid homepage design.
Full Website Projects
A simple but fully designed website — including a homepage, page templates, and one or two additional layouts — typically costs at least $4,000, depending on complexity and creative direction. These figures apply to design only, not development or backend work, emphasizing how design remains one of the most intellectually demanding and creative aspects of a digital project.
Why It Matters
Pricing transparency helps both designers and clients value the creative process more realistically. Beyond aesthetics, design is problem-solving — aligning strategy, communication, and emotional impact. Fair pricing ensures that creative work remains sustainable and respected.
