Visual Design Collaboration for Josefine Club by Architect Fred Mafra
I was invited by architect Fred Mafra to design the wallpaper for the main lounge of the Josefine Club in Belo Horizonte, Brazil — a project that marked a unique collaboration between architecture and visual design. My role was to create a visual statement that complemented the club’s bold and sensorial atmosphere — a wallpaper that would merge seamlessly with the sleek black surfaces, quartz details, and futuristic geometry defining Mafra’s architectural vision. The design sought to reflect the spirit of escapism and rhythm that underpins the club’s experience, turning the walls themselves into an extension of the music and light.
The Josefine Project became a celebration of movement, illusion, and texture — qualities that resonate with both the club’s soundscape and Mafra’s dynamic approach to spatial design. Drawing inspiration from optical art and kinetic patterns, the wallpaper was conceived to create a subtle sense of motion, echoing the vibrant energy of the dance floors and the immersive lighting that flows throughout the space. It was an honor to contribute to an environment where architecture, design, and music coexist so harmoniously, enhancing the collective experience of those who step inside one of Brazil’s most iconic nightclubs.
